"Count the Monkeys" by Mac Barnett
"Count the Monkeys" is just about that...counting monkeys!! Its cute though because it runs out f pages before they actually count the monkeys. However, there are several monkeys on the back flap to count!!
I would use this book to teach counting. I would also read each page and have stents pick out words that are examples of alliteration.

"The Berenstain Bears' Trouble with Money" by Stan & Jan Berenstain
Great little book starting classic characters, the Berenstain bears!! The books tells the table of brother and sister bear and their carefree spending. I love that they question the fathers figures of speech like "money doesn't grow on trees".
I would use this book to talk about money with students. An activity might be to ask students to think of some ways they could earn money and how they can spending it wisely.

"Color Zoo" by Lois Ehlert
This book was recommended by the librarian and i thought it was super fun. each page has a cut out of a shape and combined shapes are animal. Each page you turn reveals a new shape and a new animal!!
I would use this book to have students read the shape names and say the letters. Then they have the visual of the shape on the page in a cut out!!

"Ten, Nine Eight" by Molly Bang
Cute little book that focuses on counting down from 10 and a little girl going to bed.
This would be good for kindergartners that are just learning to count. You could do a lesson where they thin of things they may have a certain numbers of items, like 2 hands on a clock.
